I can't tell you when my obsession with sauces began, but I can tell you their ability to elevate a dish is unreal. Caramel sauce has always been a favorite topping of mine when ordering ice cream, eating churros, french toast and I can't leave out caramel popcorn. This dreamy caramel sauce is infinitely better than store bought plus the ingredients are simple & the steps are easy. I've come across tons of variations of caramels most of which are similar in ingredients. I prefer this recipe because the creamy ratio is just right and the touch of vanilla amps up the flavor. If you don't have brown sugar in your house, you can replace with white sugar and still get a delicious dreamy caramel sauce.
Happy Baking! :)

Dreamy Caramel Sauce
Makes 1 1/2 Cups
Ingredients:
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Half & Half
5 Tbsp Butter
Pinch of Salt
1 Tbsp Vanilla
Steps:
Bring sugar, half & half, butter and salt to medium heat in a saucepan
Continuously stir for 5-8 minutes until thoroughly combined & sugar has melted
Add the vanilla and continue to stir for another minute
Remove from heat to cool
Pour the sauce into a jar & store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Serve at prefered temperature, I prefer some served hot on top of ice cream & just warm for ideal cake drip length.
